Comparison of Thermal Effectiveness and Crevice Corrosion Risk of Fin Geometry on All-Aluminum Microchannel Heat Exchangers

All-aluminum microchannel heat exchangers have recently gained popularity in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning industry. Despite their attractive thermal performance design, these make coils used automotive, commercial, residential applications prone to crevice corrosion. This study uses high-fidelity conjugate transfer simulations model a micro channel exchanger system that includes fins tubes with crossflow compare effectiveness gain insight into potential corrosion of MCHE alloy. considers three fin geometries (louver, step, saw) same tube circular shape identifies hot spot effectiveness.
